Brandausbreitung

Unter der Brandausbreitung wird die Bewegung einer Flammenfront in einem Raum, Gebäude, Kraftfahrzeuge oder an anderen Brandobjekten verstanden, in dem sich das Feuer über die vorhandenen brennbaren Stoffe ausbreitet. Die Brandausbreitung kann durch Konvektion (Wärmeströmung), Wärmeleitung und/ oder Wärmestrahlung erfolgen. Bei einem Brand werden sich diese drei Wärmetransportmöglichkeiten immer vermischen.
Die Ausbreitung eines Brandes hängt von sehr vielen Faktoren ab, so unter anderem von:
- vorhandene Brandlast und deren Verteilung
- Entzündbarkeit und Brennbarkeit der vorhandenen Stoffe
- Strömungsverhältnisse bzw. Luftzufuhr
- Feuchtigkeitsgehalt der brennbaren Stoffe
- Zerteilungsgrad der brennbaren Stoffe
- bauliche Charakteristik des Brandobjektes
- Zeit der ungehinderten Brandausbreitung u.v.a.m.
In der Fachliteratur findet man bei einigen Quellen Angaben zur Geschwindigkeit der Brandausbreitung.

Fire propagation is understood to mean the movement of a flame front in a room, building, motor vehicle or other fire objects in which the fire spreads through the combustible materials present. The fire can spread by convection (heat flow), heat conduction and/or heat radiation. In a fire, these three heat transport options will always mix.
The spread of a fire depends on many factors, including:
- existing fire load and its distribution
- Flammability and combustibility of the substances present
- Flow conditions or air supply
- moisture content of combustible materials
- Degree of decomposition of the combustible materials
- structural characteristics of the fire object
- Time of unhindered fire spread and much more.
Some sources in the specialist literature contain information on the speed at which the fire spreads.
